The Dimmer is an integrated control unit housed within an automotive enclosure, designed to regulate and control electrical functions with precision and reliability. Behind its apparent simplicity lies complex engineering: every part and every mechanism must meet extremely strict industrial standards to ensure safety and performance within the vehicle.
Industrializing such a critical product cannot be left to chance. It requires a custom-built production line capable of assembling each component with precision, consistent throughput, and uncompromising quality.

At the Heart of Innovation: A Three-Station Strategic Assembly Line
To meet these requirements, we designed and built a complete custom machinery production line, structured around three critical stations that secure and control every stage of the assembly process.
Station 1: Knob Snap-Fitting onto the Housing
The user’s first interaction with the Dimmer is through its knobs. Their assembly is therefore critical to ensuring the perceived quality of the finished product.
This station ensures the precise insertion and snap-fitting of the knobs onto the main housing. Thanks to an automatic feeding and orientation system, each knob is positioned with micrometric accuracy, while the calibrated pressing force guarantees perfect locking without deformation. Sensors then verify the conformity of each part, ensuring reliable assembly from the very first operation.

Station 2: Assembly of the Slider Support onto the Equipped Sub-Assembly
Once the housing is fitted with the knobs, this station ensures the fastening of the slider support, a key component for guiding and stabilizing the internal mechanism.
The sub-assembly is held with precision while the slider support is positioned and snap-fitted within strict tolerances. Thanks to automated force and torque control, each fastening operation guarantees optimal mechanical rigidity and stability. Final inspections validate the absence of play and the perfect integration of the support, ensuring the Dimmer’s reliability during

Station 3: Lubrication and Final Assembly
This is the strategic station where the Dimmer reaches its final configuration and its long-term durability is ensured.
Each functional area receives precisely controlled lubrication through automated systems neither too much nor too little to guarantee smooth operation and minimal wear. The final assembly of the components is then carried out, followed by automated functional tests that validate the mechanical performance and conformity of the finished product, ensuring the Dimmer’s reliability and longevity.
